Meet Our Keynote Speaker: Marc Rosenberg

From Content Creation to Content Curation: Managing the knowledge tsunami

We are facing a “knowledge tsunami” – the sheer amount of content available is increasing at an exponential rate, while the “shelf-life” of that content is shrinking dramatically. It can be overwhelming, not just to users, but to us as well. As we look at the content we develop and publish, we have to ask some very important questions. Is it good content? Is it the right content for the right purpose? Is it up-to-date? Is it understandable? Even more of a concern, what happens if we will find bad content and act on it (believing it is correct)? The more we have to ask these questions, the more we need to focus on content curation. Content curation focuses on the accuracy, relevance, usefulness, value, and other aspects of knowledge assets. Curators are less focused on finding more content than they are on making sure what they have is the right content. It’s not enough to have great information design capabilities; if the content is wrong, you’re just making the delivery of bad content more efficient. Not good. In this keynote presentation, we will explore the rationale, challenges and opportunities of content curation and provide some next steps on your content curation journey.
