Everyone has an *idea* of what accessibility means, but what does it look like in practice? What are the benefits of accessible documentation? How do you get buy-in from others, and how do you start to implement it?

What can the audience expect to learn?

In this session, you will learn what it means to be accessible and why it’s important for your documentation to follow accessibility guidelines. You will get an introduction into how to get started making documentation accessible in DITA, as well as best practices to keep in mind when you are creating user materials. We’ll also go over easy ways you can get buy-in for accessibility from different stakeholders in your organization.

Meet the presenter

Desiree is a Senior Curriculum Developer in the Tech Comm department at Oracle Bronto. In her 7 years of working with DITA, she’s written documentation for everything from middleware to hospital financial software. She believes that not all disabilities are visible and strives to make documentation as user-friendly for as many people as possible.
